InspectionXpert can save time creating Inspection Reports, No Matter the File Type by Jeff Brausen

InspectionXpert is a powerful tool that allows you to create inspection reports in minutes rather then hours.  I have been using InspectionXpert to create inspection reports directly from the CAD Drawing for some time. (See this article for more info) As you would expect, with the source data to access, it works extremely well.  What I want to point out with this article is that there is another side to this same product.  InspectionXpert allows any user to create reports from PDFs, JPEG, DWG and many more file types. If it’s a common format that CAD data is exported to, you can likely create an inspection report out of it.  In the video linked to this article, there is a full list for your reference.

In the video below, I demonstrate how easy it is to generate an Inspection Report directly from a Drawing Image file, in this case a PDF that someone could have sent to me.  Right from the image, I’m able to highlight measurements and capture them into a table to generate my inspection spreadsheet from.  The program automatically reads the numbers in the image for me.  I just need to adjust how the inspection annotation is displayed on the image file and input a few elements to complete the process. The balloon style and notes are added right to the native file type.  You then push your standard tolerancing into your Excel inspection report that is tied to the balloon drawing. The drawing can be saved back into the same format you received in the first place or as another type that may be more of a standard for your company.

In the second half of the video, I demonstrate what to do when the inevitable design change happens after creating the Inspection Report.  Simply update the image file within InspectionXpert and it automatically highlights the changes that have been made.  A simple approval and quick update to my dimensions and I’m back in business again.

InspectionXpert is the quickest and easiest way to create inspection reports for your company, no matter what Drawing file type you are using to create them from, check out the video below and then click on the Mech Products Info Request form to learn more, arrange for a live demonstration or to get a custom quote.
